I'm 36 years old, I live in Brazil and I've been working my entire adult life in jobs related to my college graduation (I have a law degree). I have achieved a comfortable position and a very nice annual salary in my Country, but I feel the need to pursue a little bit more my particular passion: technology.

I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and, thanks to your real world lessons, you motivated me to learn more and more about technology. Thanks to your guidance, I teached myself some basic and intermediate PHP and MySQL techniques and started to successfully combine my present job’s bureaucratic tasks with my “new talents”.

Despite the fact that I’ve been pretty successful in teaching myself some nice modern programming language skills, I think that a boost in my knowledge would be very welcome.

Due to the lack of good programming short courses in my own Country, I’ve been looking for American bootcamps options like “Coding Dojo” and “The Tech Academy”, that offers 8 to 15 weeks hands on training programs.

Thankfully, I have sufficient time, money and (at least, I think) the motivation to complete the bootcamps intensive programs, but I’ve been questioning myself if they are a real good options to learn how to code with advanced techniques.

So, there comes my QUESTION: do you think that it would be a good idea to engage in this sort of intensive training or it would be a better option to continue to teach myself with books and videos in a cheaper and slower pace?

Any advice of yours would be very appreciated.

I am 47 years old and I am interested in making a career change in the information technology field.
In your opinion is this crazy at my age?.
If not, where should I start? I do carry a full time 45 hour per week job, so I am interested in an online program. Is there a school or program that you can suggest?
There are so many options out there and I'm not sure of the best place to start.

I have noticed with the increased pressure on ISP companies to up the bandwidth to the people, this has opened new possibilities to streaming content to your living room and opened new ways for people to consume their daily fix of news and television.

How do you think that Cable companies and other television companies will compete with the new options that weren’t valid a few years ago due to limitations of getting broadcast television and shows without price gauging the masses?




There are various options to get Television now such as Hulu, Netflix, Sling, Amazon and Kodi streaming content.

You can buy into one of these platforms for a cheaper monthly cost which allows their members of these services to catch up on missed episodes and also binge watch entire series and also with the growing trend I heard Roku was going to jump on the bandwagon for providing Live TV streaming.




Moving forward how do you anticipate the technology moving to accommodate these trends with multiple platforms offering users what they want with the commercials cut out compared to the conventional TV bundles and cable companies deals.




I have seen first hand that people are fed up of paying $90-$120 a month for television channels that no one watches and watching local TV Shows on the scheduled times is just unrealistic with today’s world of Go Go Go no time to stop.




With this Growth do you see the battle of Net-Neutrality coming into play with the ISP gaining more power and pricing their services to whatever they want or do you feel the government will step in and start regulating it more and possibly turn internet service into a utility.

I watched 1 of your video which is regarding block, control web sites using open DNS.
I tried to do that.
But failed...
I'm unable to add a network into open dns...
We have static public IP also...
management of my workplace does not provide necessary tools for me to manage the network.
at least firewall, virus guard.
But they expect everything to go smoothly from me.

so, I would very much appreciate it, If you could help me or guide me to implement a firewall without cost.
I tried to test several tools(pfsense, zentyal)
But so difficult for me.

What do you think about the practice of using a VPN to watch things like Netflix while you are in a country where that kind of stuff is not available? Do you think it is morally okay to do this as long as they actually pay for Netflix and everything, or should people avoid doing that? Why do online services even region lock to start with?

I understand everyone's brain is different, but what would you find to be the minimum number of books or IT related works one should read a week to be a successful and multi-faceted IT professional? During the years of your learning, what is the most you found you could cram into the brain each week without losing retention? Do you think people who aren't successful in IT simply haven't studied up and read enough books, and thus don't have the right tools to tackle problems?

I am a 25 year old IT Technician in a Primary School who is running 6 servers, dealing with all generic technical problems and has reasonable skills in networking. I live in England, but I would love to work in a different country in the next 2-5 years before I ‘settle down’ such as America or Canada. My question is… What is the chance that a company is willing to hire a foreigner who would have to go through all the visa application/immigration procedures? More precisely what is the chance a company would hire from abroad for a general technician (rather than a real specialist role) with OK experience?

You have been talking about programming(PHP, Ruby) and Networking. But how about database ? to be more precise, I want to be a sql Business intelligence developer and I haven't seen any videos related to that.
My concern now is that, big data being on the rise, what would be the future for oracle and microsoft sql ? do I stand any chance of job if I learn it now ?

im mounting a tv in my wall for a digital picture frame and i was wondering if theres a thumb drive i can leave plugged into the tv and can remotely access to add and remove content.if you have any ideas on how i can do this i would appreciate your input i didnt know who else to ask

Hi there Eli, my friends and I got into an argument around whether an anti virus/anti malware software is necessary in a home setting. Many articles that I have read state that advanced pieces of malware can in fact bypass most anti virus software.
