À minuit ce matin les pompiers de Laval ont été déployés aux intersections Montée du Moulin et Marcel-Villeneuve pour un incendie. Ils ont découvert un édifice commercial qui brûlait intensément. Une 2e et 3e alarmes ont été sonnées rapidement pendant que l'incendie se propageait à l'intérieur de l'édifice attaché à un centre-d'achat. De la fumée dense s'est échappée pendant longtemps de la structure abritant une pizzéria et un dépanneur. Les pompiers ont utilisé un accès par le toit pour combattre l'incendie avec des scies. Un autobus du service de transport publique de Laval a été utilisé comme refuge pour les équipes d'urgence lors du temps froid. L'incendie a éventuellement été augmenté à une 5e alarme et les pompiers ont été sur scène jusqu'aux petites heures du matin.

At midnight this morning Laval fire crews responded to the report of a fire only to find a well involved building at the corner of Montee du Moulin and Marcel-Villeneuve in Laval, Quebec, Canada. A second and third alarm were quickly struck while fire burned through parts of a shopping plaza complex with a pizza shop and a convenience store. Dense smoke could be seen pouring out of the structure from broken windows and the roof. Firemen used the roof to access remote areas with saws and pike poles. A Laval transit bus was dispatched to serve as a refuge for the crews during the cold night. The fire was eventually upgraded to a 5th alarm and fire fighters remained on scene until well into the morning.

À 23h les pompiers de Laval ont combattu un brasier dans un édifice commercial de un étage aux intersections du blvd St-Martin ouest et de la rue Gérard dans le cartier Chomedey à Laval. L'édifice abritant le commerce Fruiterie et Rotisserie St-Martin a visiblement subit de lourds domages. L'incendie a été augmenté à une 2e alarm et les policiers du SPL ont bloqué la circulation complètement sur le boulevard St-Martin. At 11h last night firemen from the Laval Fire Dept battled a blaze in a commercial building one story at the corner of Blvd St-Martin and Gerard Street in Laval, Quebec, Canada. The incident left Blvd St-Martin shut to traffic in the Chomedey area of the suburban city neighboring the city of Montreal. The building is a grocery store called Fruiterie et Rotisserie St-Martin and was heavily damaged. The blaze was upgraded to a second alarm and no injury were reported.
